Mr. Dearden (he/him/his) grew up in central Massachusetts before attending Cornell University and eventually moving to Yonkers over twenty years ago. He has been an engineer, an Air Force officer, an investment banker, a real estate developer, and finally, a math teacher. His Chilean wife is a bilingual elementary teacher in the Bronx, and he has two daughters, one a biologist in NYC and one a college sophomore in Vermont. He loves animals, cooking, and listening to live music, especially at Shrine in Harlem. Fun facts: He lived in the Netherlands for two years, where he learned to enjoy Greek and Indian food, and during the COVID lockdown, he walked the entire length of the Old Croton Aqueduct. He is fluent in English and Math, and his favorite quote is by two first graders, Ava and Zoe, “Math is fun-hard. It’s fun to do, but hard. The hard helps you learn.”
